Figure 7-11 shows the aircraft on the assigned
heading of 240º. ‘TERM’ (Terminal) is the current
CDI flight phase displayed on the HSI indicating
1.0 nm CDI scaling.

ATC now assigns routing to join V4. A heading
of 290º is assigned to intercept V4. The aircraft
turns to heading 290° as seen in Figure 7-12.
Note the current CDI flight phase is now ENR
(Enroute). When the aircraft reached 30 nautical
miles from the departure point, the flight phase
changed from TERM to ENR on the HSI and CDI
scaling changed to 2.0 nm.
