Transponder Mode Description
Altitude Reporting
(ALT)
Altitude Reporting Mode is automatically selected when the aircraft
becomes airborne. Altitude Reporting Mode may also be selected
manually by selecting the
Altitude Reporting
Button. Altitude
Mode Generates Mode A, Mode C, and Mode S replies as well as
transmissions of acquisition squitter and extended squitter, including
ADS-B Out.
On
ON Mode can be selected at any time by selecting the On Button. ON
Mode generates Mode A and Mode S replies as well as transmission of
acquisition squitter and extend squitter, including ADS-B Out. Mode C
altitude reporting is inhibited.
Ground (GND)
Ground mode is normally selected automatically when the aircraft
is on the ground. Ground Mode may also be selected manually by
selecting the Ground Button. Ground Mode generates Mode S replies
to discrete interrogations as well as transmission of acquisition squitter
and extended squitter, including ADS-B Out. Mode A, Mode C, and
Mode S all-call replies are inhibited.
Standby (STBY)
Standby Mode can be selected at any time by selecting the Standby
Button. In Standby Mode, the transponder is powered, but no replies or
squitters are transmitted.
